Ad Towers on the Waltham Abbey, Birmingham and River Lee Navigation Canals
These Ad Tower projects, in conjunction with British Waterways, were to erect innovative billboard structures on the Grand Union canal at Westbourne Park, Waltham Abbey and various other sites along the Grand Union, the Birmingham Canal, and the River Lee Navigation canal.
The concept of constructing purpose made structures to support billboards in an interesting and sculptural manner was initiated in London on the structure adjacent to the M4 near Hammersmith, by Studio 303.
The purpose of the British Waterways designs is to respond to the challenging brief in an innovative and imaginative way, creating a sculptural and geometrically consistent form that reacts to local circumstances and enhances the life and interest along the canal.
As part of British Waterways commitment to manage and protect the rich array of protected species along the canal, the natural habitat of local wildlife will be considered in the design the structures.
